Kayaking

Kayaking on the River Wye, River Thames and River Severn

When it comes to kayaking, Ultimate Canoe & Kayak has something for everyone. Are you new to the sport and need an instructor? Are you an experienced paddler looking simply for a kayak to hire for the day? We can help.

The majority of our trips take place on the river Wye, Severn and Thames. However if you are thinking of kayaking in a particular location with a group get in touch and we will see what we can do! Making use of the spectacular lakes, river and seas of the UK we can cater for individuals and groups of every ability.

Our Kayaks

We have fleet of both closed-deck and ‘sit-on-top’ kayaks to suit paddlers of all levels. We also have a large fleet of Canadian canoes so there really is something for everyone!

What’s the difference between kayaking and canoeing?

Kayaking differs from canoeing due to the shape of the boat, the sitting position of the paddler and the number of blades on the paddle. A kayak is defined by the International Canoe Federation (the world governing body) as a boat where the paddler faces forward, legs in front, using a double-bladed paddle. Kayaks generally have closed decks, however “sit-on-top” kayaks and inflatable kayaks are becoming more popular.

We can offer kayak hire and organised trips on the River WyeRiver Thames and River Severn.

We also offer training courses for beginner to advanced levels. This is a great way of improving your skills and confidence on the water.
