Henley to Marlow

Henley to Marlow Canoe or Kayak trip

Our Henley to Marlow canoe or kayak trip is one of many routes we offer on the River Thames. This route is 9.5 miles and includes 3 locks taking 1 day in a canoe or kayak. This is a really popular route for all levels of paddler, taking in one of the nicest stretches of the river Thames.

Henley to Marlow Canoe or Katak Route Description

You will launch from Henley at the River and Rowing Museum on the south side of Henley on the left hand bank. You will then have the chance paddle right through the picturesque town and down the famous Royal Regatta Course to Hambledon Lock.

After Henley you will paddle towards Hurley and Bisham where this interesting and beautiful part of the Thames starts to get wider.

You will then be picked up just below the A404 bridge on the right hand bank.

If you get there slightly early we recommend grabbing a drink and a bite to eat at the Longridge cafe.

Getting through the Locks

You can either paddle through the locks or get out and carry your boats around. We would suggest that you paddle through the locks when the lock keeper is on duty and portage if the lock is unmanned.

When you are carrying your boats be sure to lift carefully and try not to scrape the bottoms of the boats along the ground if you can help it!

Further options

If you would like to paddle further than just Henley to Marlow then take a look at our two day trip from Cholsey to Henley. This is a 23 mile paddle stopping at Mapledurham overnight.
