Cholsey to Henley route description

Day 1: You will launch at Cholsey (near Cholsey railway Station) or Moulsford if coming by car.

You will then paddle 10 miles along a lovely stretch of the river Thames to Mapledurham and stay at campsite there. Please note that booking is required! Alternatively you could continue to Caversham and make a booking at the Crown Plaza Hotel.

Day 2: Continue through to Henley 12.5 miles where you will be collected by the River and Rowing Museum – walking distance to Henley railway station

If you get there slightly early we recommend grabbing a drink and a bite to eat at the Longridge cafe.

Further options

If you would like a shorter paddle, then why not try Henley to Marlow or Sonning to Henley – both single day trips.

Getting through the Locks

You can either paddle through the locks or get out and carry your boats around. We would suggest that you paddle through the locks when the lock keeper is on duty and portage if the lock is unmanned.

When you are carrying your boats be sure to lift carefully and try not to scrape the bottoms of the boats along the ground if you can help it!
